Just got back from a little trip to L.A. Took the kids to the zoo. As we were looking for parking we noticed signs for the pony rides so after a couple hours in the zoo we went to check it out. The Griffith Park pony rides have to be the greatest pony rides in the world. I was just expecting the typical pony’s on a horse walker contraption but it was actually a little race course.
(Click on the photos for a larger image.) With three lanes, Slow, Medium and Fast.
(They also had a wagon ride and a ride with the horse walker contraption.) Stevie and Chris rode both the slow and medium.
It was great. The ride consists of two laps around the little track. It cost $2 per ride and the wait was only about 5 minutes between rides. If you’re looking for something fun to do in L.A. with little kids, I highly recommend it. Update: It turns out that Becky’s dad, who grew up next to Griffith Park, used to work at the pony rides, or has he put it, "I used to run it by myself. In those days it cost 10 cents.
