Just a couple more photos from Yosemite. Here’s a shot of El Capitan. What you can’t see in this photo is that there are people climbing up the side of that mountain. There were several people in a meadow across from El Capitan watching the progress of the climbers, some with telescopes. One guy explained to us that there were quite a few groups climbing right now because the weather was so nice and as a result they didn’t have to carry so much water with them. He explained that it will take a normal group of climbers 5 days to go from bottom to top. They will sleep attached to the face of the cliff and they will pull their food, water and supplies up after them. (How they answer the call of nature he did not explain.) Now that’s an example of real faith. They go to sleep attaching themselves to the side of the cliff. In order to fall asleep they have to have confidence in the anchors which are holding them on the cliff and confidence in their ability to correctly use them. These guys are real faith men/women.
Here’s a shot of one group of climbers. It’s a little shaky because I had it zoomed to the max and was just holding it in my hand.
